Battlefield Among the Flowers I introduces a legendary sword, the Cyan Sword, and its inventors, by telling the story of a war between two countries.
It was Tedezjoba (Reign title) year 96 of the Kingdom of Shohna. The land of the country, which was full of lavender-like plants, was called Kjehja, which means "Among the blossoms of flowers". As magic weapons were widely used by Shohna and other countries in this world, the development of magic weapons should be very important for the countries’ governors. But at that time, the Kingdom of Shohna had just gone through decades of peace and prosperity; in this context, the problems of the military and the people's addiction to unrestrained entertainment have become increasingly prominent with no one caring about the development of magic stuff.
The Minister of Magic of the country, Shethohnohfe Mohdju, once planned to develop a new kind of magic sword. No one bothered about the design of new weapons, but Mohdju was the person in the magician group which had ideals, and he was committed to the development of his new weapons anyway. After several years, he finally found Lakinade Ljaegae and Hjethadae Lokohe, who were all highly-educated magical machine & weapon researchers.
Lakinade Ljaegae was borned in a strict noble family, and had been sent to a magic school in her childhood. She usually braided traditionally and wore gold glasses. For the peace environment of the country, the Magic Institute of Shohna–the first-class magic school in the country where only nobles can admit–was a place where dignitaries expand their resources. The Lakinade family wanted their daughter to take advantage of resources in the institute, but Ljaegae herself wanted to learn actual skills in it more than get into interpersonal relationships with other high-class mages. She studied in the institute for 4 years and got the highest degree. It was almost identical to Hjethadae Lokohe’s early life.
As Ljaegae had the talent in magic machine’s researching and designing, her teacher focused on cultivating her ability in these areas, while ignoring the other critical ability that a mage should have–the ability of combat. This led to the fact that although she had undergone some physical training, it was not enough for a real war, only can cope with daily training. But she didn’t need these skills at that time.
Through the introduction of others, Mohdju knew these two magician’s names, and invited them to participate in his project; Ljaegae and Lokohe had already become teachers rather than students at the same time, and both of them had a group of students to teach. After about two years of very hard research and development, the new sword was finished. Because the blade of this sword shined with a beautiful blue light under the sun, they called it “Cyan Sword”. What’s more, in the process of working together, Ljaegae and Lokohe developed deep passionate love, and they finally became “Taema”–officially recognized lesbian couple.
Once finished, this kind of new weapon won the attention of many people in the country. Ljaegae, who de facto the main designer of the Cyan Sword, raised her domestic prestige rapidly. For a time, she became a very hot figure in the circle of domestic mages. Further, with this Cyan Sword, she won the largest magic skills competition in the country.
Just when everyone thought there would begin another period of peace and rich life, Bhidac, the maritime neighboring country of Shohna, declared war with the kingdom. It was because Shohna always rejected Bhidac’s trade requests, for Shohna people thought they had everything on their land. Ljaegae, who had just won the first place of the magic competition, was very natural to be asked to take on the important task of being the commander of a grand warship in a fleet of 13 ships with Lokohe and others being her subordinate–but she had exactly no experience, and what’s worse, these ships were not ready for renovation, because in the peace time they were used as party places. There were too many things that Ljaegae and her beloved taema couldn’t change. At the end, Shohna paid a huge price for failure for its unpreparedness with the naval battle against Bhidac’s fleet, with Ljaegae and Lokohe fought to death on the sea.
Mohdju and the whole country felt a great loss after the result arrived back to the capital city with debris of the ship, the Cyan Sword and a piece of Ljaegae’s braids. Mohdju had to take the responsibility, but he firmly believed that it was not the fault of the new Cyan Sword or Ljaegae or Lokohe, which was proved correct. As the post-war era was coming, Shohna people had to deal with the failure, and a reform sweeping the country was about to begin.
